The book "altgitarren" 9 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 7
Some of you have heard about the book "Altgitarren".
It's 180 pages thick book, printed in 1998, with arrangements and transcriptions for alto guitar.
There are over 130 tunes in it... Some Dowland, Bach, Erik Satie, Weiss, Bittner, Teleman etc.

The book is made by the late Per-Olov Jonsson. It was for, and together with, him Georg Bolin constructed the altoguitar. Per-Olov Jonsson was a guitar professor in Malmö, Sweden and one of his most famous students was Göran Söllscher.

The book contains work from early 1500 to present time (even som Swedish folk music in there ). Arrangements and transcriptions by Per-Olov Jonsson, Anders Miolin, Börje Sandquist, Gunnar Hansson, Gunnar Spjuth and Göran Söllscher.

There is a chapter of information in the beginning (in Swedish).

The price is 213 SEK (swedish crowns).
That makes about $33.50USD + package, posting and possibly VAT.

You may order it directly from Malmö at this email adress:
Reception(at)mhm.lu.se

The title is: Johnson, Per-Olof (1998). Altgitarren.
I've allready mailed with them and asked if they may ship internationally and they said that it'll work just fine!

So I hope this means that some of you will get your hands on a big pile of lovely music soon!

Hi Ruysato,

at first glance, the scores are transcriptions of different people:
Borje Sandquist on one hand and Günnar Spjuth on the other hand.

-Prelude seems to be Sonata 1719 in Dm n°1 Prelude
-Sarabande p 148 seems to be Sarabande of the Sonata in F maybe Varsovie n°11
I didn't find the others.

Robert Barto has recorded the complete lute sonata by S.L.Weiss at Naxo's label,
You can listen to parts of each piece of music if you search for
"Barto + Robert + Weiss" at amazon for example.

Hope this will help you,

Bests,

Christophe

Ruisato, Christophe,
You both have copies of the book "Altgitarren", where did you find it? I would very much like a copy.
James.
