I now understand that the "bass" referred to the three lowest bass strings being off the fret board. I have only seen these fretted in a virtuoso piece named for the Persian Sufi poet, mathematician, and astronomer, Omar Khayyam. The technical skills required would be well beyond most of us. Most players in this forum are serious amateurs, mostly interested in the lute repertoire. Your innovation is ideal for this type of player, and many professionals.
